Canuto de la Utrera - Sierra Bermeja
Casares · Nature & walking

Our tip
If you want to feel like you're in the wild west and you're on your feet, this is the right route for you. And at the top, you will be rewarded with an amazing view of the coast of Gibraltar.
The hike of the Canuto de la Utrera is impressively beautiful. It is a smaller version of El Torcal near Antequera, but here the climate is much more stable than in the very variable microclimate of El Torcal.
The hike is not a “loop” and so if you don't have two cars, you have to do it back and forth. It is not difficult but certainly not easy and sturdy footwear is a must. Dangerous in wet weather over heavy rain because of the small river that sometimes has to be crossed.
Parking is available in the parking lot of De Baños de la Hedionda. To find the starting point just follow the little road to De Baños de la Hedionda. On the left is a large sign indicating the start of the hike.
Information about this walk can be found at the tourism office in Casares where you can buy a booklet with 12 walks in Casares for 1 euro.
