Guadalmina Rivier - Las Angosturas - Sierra de las Nieves

Benahavís · Beach & sea

Our tip

The Las Angosturas trail in Benahavís offers an exciting challenge with steep climbs and river crossings, perfect for experienced hikers who love a bit of adventure and can swim!

Take a 3.4 km circular walk near Benahavis. It is generally considered a difficult route. This route is popular for hiking, but you can enjoy some rest during the quieter moments of the day. The route is open all year round and is perfect for any time of year.

Before taking this route, keep in mind that it is a route entirely along the Guadalmina River; you have to swim, climb rocks, hold on with your hands and in some cases even jump.
It is not recommended for children, dogs or people who do not have agility and moderate to high physical preparation. Nor for cycling or to do any other activity without an instructor that does not consist of walking on water and on rocks.

This route can start in the lower part of the town of Benahavís or in the parking lot of the Hermitage of the Virgen del Rosario, on the A-7175. If you start in the town, you finish at the level of a wooden walkway, where the Mirador de la Charca de los Tubos is located, and return to the car along a wooden walkway parallel to the road. If you decide to start in the parking lot of the Ermita de la Virgen del Rosario, return along the same walkway, but in the opposite direction.

It is recommended to wear shoes with good grip, helmet and swimwear. Avoid carrying items that cannot get wet or carry a fully waterproof bag.

There is also the possibility of a longer route that combines the river with trails: https://www.alltrails.com/es/ruta/spain/malaga/angosturas-del-rio-guadalmina
