Our tip

A padel and tennis club a bit out of the way in the hills above Estepona, well worth the drive for the courts and for the lessons with Maxi.

The Club de Tenis y Padel Estepona is not the easiest place to find, and that is part of the story. It sits a bit out of the way, up in the hills above town, so you will need to get in the car and make the drive. We went there this May with a group of friends, and it was absolutely worth the trip.

Padel with friends, up in the hills

We spent most of the day on the padel courts, playing a bit of everything. Between the rallies the group switched around in singles and doubles, cracked jokes and compared rackets. The courts are in good shape, and with the trees and rocky walls around the fences it feels more relaxed than a typical padel club down on the coast.

Lessons with Maxi

The real reason I came back to this club was Maxi. I took a series of private lessons tailored to what I needed, and he is a great trainer with loads of experience. He explains things clearly and knows exactly what to work on, so every session had a purpose. It was definitely money well spent, and if you want to actually improve, I would ask for him.

Group lessons and planning your visit

The club also organises group lessons on a regular basis, which is a good option if you are travelling with a few people or want to meet other players. The schedule changes, so the easiest thing is to contact the club and ask what the latest options are before you go. That way you know what is on and can plan your day around it.

Because the club is a bit remote, I would not just turn up on the day. A quick message ahead, a court reserved and a clear idea of the lesson times make the drive well worth it.
